Terry & Emma once discovered who the oldest bug in NYC was, and have been in love ever since

On April 27th, 2021, Terry & Emma went on their first date at Roberto's Real American Tavern — following a successful wooing by Terry on Tinder (mostly accomplished by talking about the world's oldest bug).

Upon Terry seeing Emma, he got so nervous, that he talked for 2 hours straight. In fact he talked so long that the wait staff forgot they existed in the corner of the Tavern.

Emma thought it was adorable.

After fumbling a parking lot first kiss — thwarted by the despicable intervention of a To-Go Pizza box — Terry was convinced he would not be getting a second date... until Emma texted him to look at how pretty the moon was. (She's a very big fan of the moon.)

A month later, they became an official couple when Emma asked Terry to be her boyfriend while he made her soup in bed. Romantic. Possibly germ-exposing.

Around that same time, cat playdates began — thus cementing Cecil and Quill as the best friends and brothers (and definitely not eternal combatants for Mom’s attention) that they are today.

In 2024, Emma and Terry made a remarkable scientific discovery: they wanted to live in a house together. After an exhaustive search involving a grand total of two houses, they somehow got extremely lucky with an offer on their favorite one. (Seriously. We don't know how this happened. We offered like $10k under asking. We think the previous owners just... liked us. Neat!)

THUS, HILLY HOME WAS BORN.

Back in 2021, Emma had introduced Terry to Constellations by Nick Payne. Three years later, in the fall of 2024, Terry found himself performing in a production of that very play — staged in a library, in his beloved college town of Amherst.

So he got sneaky. After bribing a librarian with the irresistible pitch of "Wouldn't this be an adorable place to propose?" he lured her inside to a window overlooking the garden. And there, kneeling in front of a T.S. Eliot poetry book, Terry proposed to Emma on her birthday — October 13th, 2024.

Since then they’ve gone on many silly adventures and will continue going on many more.
